St James Quarter has confirmed that schuh, the Edinburgh-founded fashion footwear retailer, will open its new Scottish flagship store within the popular destination. Scheduled for launch in May, the store will be located on Level 1 of the Galleria, occupying a 5,500 sq ft unit. The addition of schuh completes the retail letting on Level 1, coinciding with a 9% increase in year-on-year retail sales for 2024.

Positioned among other high street retailers such as Superdrug, Boots and Moss, schuh will bring an extensive range of footwear to St James Quarter. The new store will stock products from over 80 brands, including Nike, adidas, UGG and Converse. Incorporating a refreshed store concept, schuh’s outlet will showcase state-of-the-art digital screens and a reimagined in-store layout to enhance customer navigation and display areas.

In collaboration with the sportswear brand ASICS, the store will offer a wellness-focused retail experience aligned with ASICS’ ‘Sound Mind, Sound Body’ philosophy. Customers will be able to explore collections within an environment featuring ambient soundscapes and warm lighting. An interactive breathwork guide will also be available, providing an opportunity for mindfulness during the shopping experience.

Chris Pyne, Leasing Director for St James Quarter, stated: “schuh is a great addition to St James Quarter, adding even more choice to our comprehensive retail offer that is now Scotland’s go-to location for leading UK and international brands. For a brand with depth in Scotland to choose the Quarter for its launch of a brand-new concept store underlines the confidence retailers have in St James Quarter as the number one retail destination in Scotland.”

Neil Partington, Chief Retail Officer at schuh, commented: “Scotland is at the heart of schuh – the birthplace of the business. Edinburgh, in particular, has always been a pivotal location for us, as the city where it all began. St James Quarter offers a prime opportunity to showcase our bold retail approach. With a curated selection of must-have brands and a commitment to exceptional customer service, schuh remains the go-to destination for footwear shopping in the capital.”

The announcement follows the opening of POLO Ralph Lauren on Level Three of St James Quarter. The new addition has strengthened the destination’s portfolio of premium retailers, supporting its positioning as a leading shopping location in Scotland.

P-THREE and Culverwell acted on behalf of St James Quarter, while CBRE represented schuh in the leasing agreement.
