Škoda has become the first European automotive brand to launch an Amazon car showroom offering real-time new car stock availability based on customer location. The new platform allows UK customers to browse Škoda’s full model range, check local availability, request test drives, and explore finance options before completing their purchase at a selected Škoda retailer.

This initiative, delivered in partnership with Amazon, aims to simplify the car-buying process by integrating familiar online browsing tools with the reassurance of a physical dealership visit. The ‘click to drive’ approach enables prospective buyers to research at their convenience while still accessing the traditional support of in-person engagement.

The new online showroom displays the complete Škoda portfolio, featuring models such as the Fabia supermini, the award-winning Kodiaq SUV, and electric offerings like the Elroq and Enyaq. Customers using the platform can view stock ready for delivery within 2-4 weeks, book test drives, compare vehicle specifications, and calculate finance options.

According to a recent survey commissioned by Škoda UK involving 2,000 British adults, 47% of respondents highlighted the importance of researching from home when considering a new car purchase. The findings also indicated that 82% of potential buyers still value in-person dealership engagement, with 78% citing test drives as essential. Further, 47% valued access to expert knowledge, while 36% considered product demonstrations crucial to their decision-making process.

The survey also provided insight into broader shopping habits. Approximately 77% of respondents spend up to two hours daily browsing online, and 59% cited simplicity and ease as the main reasons for favouring online shopping. These results underscore the balance that the Škoda Amazon showroom seeks to strike — offering the convenience of digital exploration combined with the assurance provided by face-to-face retailer interactions.

Matthew Bowden, Director of Škoda UK, commented: “Online browsing and research are part of everyday life, which is why we’re so excited to launch the Škoda showroom at Amazon. It gives prospective customers more opportunities to find their next car and see where it’s available, all from the comfort of their home.”

Customers begin their journey through the Amazon website or app, selecting their preferred model before being connected with a chosen retailer. At the retailer, buyers can arrange finance, negotiate any part-exchanges, and confirm collection dates.
